Hi,
can anyone give me some advice how to find the right models here in Toronto? Most of the websites I found are close to useless. I just need a few models for some of my projects. You can PM me if you have any idea or experience with this.

Thanks! Marco

Finding the right model if you pay them at least a token amount, if not model mayhem or any other place can be hit or miss.

As with most things on the internet, use common sense...To say they're all reliable or all bad would be false.

I suggest using people you know first, build a portfolio, so models can see you're legit and likewise.

It's hit or miss.

Obviously the paid ones will be more likely to be reliable vs freebies.

I'm free to model if you need :D

Don't need to. Just search it up. There has been many threads about studios in the GTA.

I think Model Mayhem is great...but you might need to have a bit of a port and a profile so that they know you are legit...not that it means that all the profiles there are legit...many fakes!
I have found that you have to build a bit of a portfolio and friends and comments before anyone there takes you seriously...

other than that...some great models...some flakes...some fakes..
its a hit an miss!
cheers

Miguel

There's always postings on craigslist too for looking for models. I see a lot of people offering to shoot for CD or pay them a minimal amount. I guess it's a good way to start off and get a portfolio going.

I have pretty bad experience with craigslist. I tried it once and the only replies I got were from guys who send me random pictures from themselfes naked - nothing professional.

Club 22 - bar attached to Windsor Arms Hotel
It is incredibly stylish bar full of well heeled people of considerable attitude - some (very little) of it earned and deserved. It has a separate cigar lounge to keep the air clean for the health conscious models that hang out in the bar. Sadly they are are unapproachable. Stick to the internet.

So, also here I want to share my experience of my last shooting. I had no idea how and where to find a model, especially since my last shooting was a kind of unusual and definitely not for everyone. Have a look at my shoots to get your own idea:
http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12251

I had this idea and never really thought I would find a model for this. So the funny thing is I actually found the model over Craigslist. I posted an add in the artist's section and explained exactly what I want to do and why I want to do it, what would be involved and how much I would pay. I didn't want bad surprises etc. I also made clear what kind of model I need. She told me later it was important for her that I wrote in full sentences and not just a few words saying nothing except "nude and female". So my conclusion, it is possible to find a model over sides like craigslist, even for the most unusal shoots. It really surprised me. And the shooting itself was work on the one side but also lots of fun. She was very professional and in a way I was lucky.

I am a little confused as of what reason you were looking for a model to make this shot, and I am waaaay confused why you wanted to part with your money for this simple shot  Anyone can do this pose and you don't even need a "model" It's up to you of course, it's your money

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you end up paying?

Edit: never mind. Saw your other post, $25/hr. :)

Peter St.! Serious the last few days they have been shooting the naked news on the street. This time it's the audience that are the female models. They strip down to topless (legal in Toronto) while the news is being read. They get the models from passing by females, they don't pay them and make them sign a release before they get in front of the camera. So all you need is a big mike labelled with Naked News to find a model.
