Hi guys. If anyone is planing on going there these days, and able to share a ride, I'd appreciate if you could take me with you. Thanks.

Me too.
I'd appreciate a ride to wherever you decide to go.

I went yesterday and the majority have already wilted. I wouldn't wait much longer if you plan to go.

Was at Brock Road and Safari Road briefly Saturday on the way to Royal Botanical Gardens. Unfortunately I was there at noon and didn't stay long as the light was harsh:

They are already tilting due to the weight of the flower heads.

I came back today and they had even tilted more downwards. Maybe the heavy rain contributed to this. The yellow petals seemed much more wilted in the 24 hours I was away. You still find the occasional flower head that is not starting to list downwards. Usually these are smaller plants on the periphery of the field that miss either the morning or evening sun due to tree cover. For this field it would have been better to get here a week or 2 earlier. But it is still good for some individual flower shots.

It is a working farm and it would probably not be a good idea to bring a wedding party here. It is fenced off and they don't want crops trampled.

Maybe there are fields further north that are less mature than this one.

Mind you there is an engaging nice swan living on the adjacent farm. He loves to ham it up for the camera. Today he was playing peek-a-boo with us .

My original information was to notify people that they aren't too late it hasn't even begun to reach peak at least one area..

This year too much rain in the spring left shallow roots and then a dry early summer stunted growth. If you know the farmers I know you would see that the answers I gave you were normal, they watch what is happening and when they think the crop can be harvested they bring in the heavy equipment and harvest hopefully before the black birds can get at them.

Have you heard from those farmers yet? Which area hasn't peaked yet?

chopper, rhommel, friendly pirana and anyone still looking for a sunflower field I see Metrix has found one. See the flower thread in the Themes section.
I asked him to let us know where it is.

Fionah - if you or anyone else is still looking, there are some at a farm close to Kingston. Colleagues of mine same some right from the 401 - I'm not sure how many plants there are.
They even have a phone number to call.

I talked to the owner on Tuesday and he doesn't mind if I give out his contact information to interested photographers. He was reluctant until I told him I wouldn't publish the location online (they are a working farm and don't want to be on the tourist map).

If you are interested in contact information then please Flickr mail or email photos@rraz.ca (If you use PM or post to this thread you might have to wait somewhat longer for a response).

Google Norfolk County and you will see it's not exactly close to Toronto. The field is not large 10 acres at best. It's on private property with no view from the road, the only access is around the back of the farm house so please respect their wish for privacy.

If you go and have room don't forget to offer axiom and others a ride.

P.S. If you want to get on their good side offer to take photos of their Berkshire pigs and if you like organic vegetables ask if they have any for sale.

thanks Matrix. Anyone allowing photogs on their property deserves the utmost respect for sure!

I wonder if it's too late this year.

I don't know how fast they develop but a week ago they weren't yet at peak and 2 weeks ago only a few were open.
