I only use my DSLRs for production work, as the lenses designed for them give me the best bang for the buck for what I do.

I use a Micro 4/3 system for everything else.

IMHO, DSLRs are still a factor, unless some manufacturer comes up with a F/1.2 AF lens for Mirrorless :)

Does it matter?

If your a small business and happen to rub a large multinational the wrong way... you WILL find out. Laws are open to interpretation and if a big company wants to hurt or destroy you they will come up with a legal claim. The court case can go on for years and cost you potentially millions. Even if they don't beat you in court the legal fees are enough to bankrupt all but the wealthiest companies. Thats how big business stay on top – like it or lump it.

Unfortunately, in this "gear talk" thread, so far, you have not mentioned anything about the actual technical aspects of any camera. You're rambling on about Sleekness, Sexiness, Show-off Factor, and Retro-Feel like a used car salesman.

What do you really mean by technical aspect of a camera? Am I supposed to show how much of a camera expert I'm before I can express some opinions about a camera? And just using some lame marketing terms that actually people who market cameras use makes me a used cars salesman? But then again what the heck is wrong with being a used car salesman? What are you, some high school kid?

Maybe you should have got the hint when I said, lets agree to disagree, that meant, I'm really not getting anything from this debate with you so we should stop -- and I have not changed my mind about that.

Cheers,

Making meaningless polemic blanket statements could cause one to question your competencies wpf1s9. Especially when your initial comment is out of context with the discussion. On that note, keep it on topic guys. Reminder: the topic has to do with Canon and photoprice.ca.

It's kinda hard to keep things on topic when someone makes a wild statement and has no supporting arguments for it.

In a three member forum, any post was a gift, or so I thought, but anyway back to the topic...

I have been searching the classified here lately so I have been slightly more active than usual, but I admit I can be a little abrasive and sorry if I have ruffled some feathers.

Back to the important topic at hand.

Cheers,

Sorry as well wpf1s9, it was a bit of a low blow on my part. We have definitely veered off topic here.

I don't think so! This new generation sensors have noticeable improvements over last generation and just wait a couple of years until some of the new technologies start showing up.

BTW whats new about equipment prices being higher in Canada. And semi legal price fixing. Thanks to companies like B&H we Canadians no longer have to be shafted by cross border shipping costs.

I'm not ashamed to admit I do all my buying from B&H. I submit my order and wait for it to arrive.

Looks like Photoprice has been forced to take away all US stores now, not just B&H. Example:

http://www.photoprice.ca/product/03868/ ... price.html

But they do link to a US pricewatch site, without the total delivered price comparison:

http://www.canonpricewatch.com/product/ ... price.html

I check B&H and then check local prices. If they are close enough then I try to buy local. Usually if I bundle items B&H is quite a bit less expensive.

I don't usually put in an order unless I'm buying multiple things.

Actually what's missing now is Adorama
I am sure Amazon will not be far behind...

Update as of yesterday:
[Update March 29th: We've now had to remove listings for a total of three major stores.]

I wonder how they're legally required to do this? It's a website that aggregates info freely available to anyone in Canada.

Dunno but they were getting comped from those companies for the referral business - perhaps they have a contract for that. Tons of sites do this these days, **CLICK HERE** to buy the new gizmo at XYZ Retailer Corp...

Maybe, but if they completely remove the B&H prices off of the site, they're not making any money from click referrals anyways.

They should just adopt the Nikon system. Warranty is limited to the country of purchase. Even if the warranty was valid in all of NA, it would still probably be better to buy local. Nikon Canada Warranty is 2 years on body, 5 on lens. Nikon USA is 1 year on both if I'm not mistaken.

If the dollar gap is big enough you could just email B&H or Adorama about the estimated final cost to your door, as their customer service is really good. When you find out a price, post it here. That's what I'll start doing.

Tweeted by Photoprice:

"Today, US store @JandR stopped shipping #Canon to Canada, citing "manufacturer restrictions". Is this a sign of more to come?"

You can’t add a Nikon products to B&H’s shopping car with Canadian address.

Due to the manufacturers restrictions, we are unable to accept orders with a shipping address in CANADA for the following item(s):
1. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens
2. Nikon 1 J1 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 10-30mm / 30-110mm Lens (Red)
Please provide a different ship to location or remove these items from your cart.

B and H dot .CA anyone?

Seriously. This could be pressure from the local Canadian retailers on Canon to protect their local market share.

Yeah, I see companies like Henry's or vistek profiting a lot from this. Doubt canon themselves are making lots of additional profit from blocked markets.
