I was there Saturday from 12:30 to 4:30.
It was a lot of fun and had a good view of the jets
especially when they circled around the condos.

Seeing the Blue Angels fly right between that white condo building on the east and the other one to the west was pretty sweet.... StephenG mentioned to me on Saturday that there's a guy in the white condo that always complains about the noise every year.

Rather than facing the lake and having lousy lighting with the sun being behind the planes, what is the best location in the opposite direction (facing the city) where the planes would be close as they make their turns to head back to the lake. This would allow shots where the sun would be shining on the planes, so you would get lots of details and colours on the planes themselves.

I shot from the southwest corner of the island... south of Hanlan's point. When I post a photo to my flickr you can get the GPS coords.

Living in a downtown condo and noise go hand in hand. My only problem with the airshow is that they don't make as much noise as I would like them too. I would love to see a laser guided missile demo ( maybe to a specific unit of the white condo)

There always seems to be a vocal group who complains about the noise. Either it's the airshow, the races, or some passing parade. It's like they don't want the city to hold any events to help bring in much needed tax dollars. Boring people who don't want any of us to have any fun, and want the city to turn back into farmland.

... ok rant over.

I live in a condo at Liberty Village which is just north of the CNE. I was basically watching and taking photos of the planes from my balcony. Not much composition choices since they weren't in formation or doing maneuvers when they flew by. I don't mind the noise since I'm a little bit of a military aviation buff. The Blue Angels' Hornets do look good but I would like to see the USAF Thunderbirds' Vipers. Maybe even the British Red Arrows, Italian Frecce Tricolori or Russian Strizhi teams.
