My Flickr is under attack. They want me to pay again...

I'm looking for other options as I guess this is as good a time as any to find a new service, if one is desired.
Does anyone have some input for me as to their experiences?

I know a few people with Smugmug and one or two on http://www.zenfolio.com/.
I'm on a free account with 500px which I like.

Anyone have any good input either into other services or from a similar transition?

Thanks!

I guess that answers my question fairly damn well.
Thanks for the active and useful feedback.

Photo dumping is useful, and flickr is pretty cheap for that, and they keep all high res available to me, but not to the end user.
I don't have clients, and thus don't currently need Client Proofing, so I guess I can reasonably remove that "need".

Thanks for the breakdown on your view of all the comparable features. That is super helpful!

One more suggestion for dump is non-pro Flickr. You don't pay a penny and enjoy only 200 latest photos showing. The rest are kept intact until you pay for Pro

What are you going to use your website for?

- Photo Dump
- Portfolio Site
- Client Proofing

I currently use all three that you mentioned (smug, zen and 500px)

Smugmug - I have a pro account and I dump ALL my original JPEGS in there.
Zenfolio - I currently use for Client Proofing
500px - this is just for fun (lol)

I have to say the Zenfolio and Smugmug are both good for either dumping your photos, or for client proofing... However:

Support - SmugMug: Champion of Customer Service
Community - SmugMug: Smugmug has dgrin.com which is VERY active
Name - Zenfolio: More professional sounding than SMUG
Admin - Zenfolio: Simpler Dashboard, Ajax technology
Themes - Zenfolio: More up to date elegant themes, Smugmug got stuck in the early 2000s :)
Customization - Smugmug: Almost EVERYTHING is customazible
Pricing - Zenfolio: Cheaper
Custom permalinks - Zenfolio: Customazible permalinks. SEO Friendly

this is a good help! i've been doing the same research too

Just put my shit on 500px
Interesting to see so much action within one day. Flickr is nowhere near the involvement.

Bump the free Flickr. I used to pay but now I'm free... No pun intended.

I'm still flickring. Paid. It's flawed but works well enough for me. It can't be beat for the community size and potential exposure. Remember, search engines have flickr well crawled. Tried 500px and just didn't like it. Didn't try very hard though.

I just uploaded all the stuff I have on Flickr. I have no intent on paying for either. I like 500px so far. Still, Flickr is my go to site for sharing.

From unsolicited sales coming from flickr searches/google searches pointing to flickr Pro has paid for itself for me.

Not since 2007. The JPG URL for the original uploaded size is unrelated to the created-by-Flickr sizes.

Let's put things into context here, isn't only $46 for 2 yrs ($1.91 a month)?
