Hi all, Just wondering if there are any free web hosting services out there, and if so, are there any that you guys would recommend? I would like to start with using LR to put it together and upload it from there. So... any suggestions?

No idea but the maxim "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. Hosting is pretty cheap today so it shouldn't be a financial burden for most and domains are pretty inexpensive as well.

You could give http://www.webs.com. The free version comes with limited bandwidth, storage and minimal ads. I must say the site and templates aren't really made for showcasing your photo work so you would have to work around it.

It really depends on what exactly your aim is....more details are needed

I'm currently using Tumblr (tumblr.com) seen more as a blogging platform there are some great portfolio templates, you can configure use with your own domain, edit HTML and all around easy to use I find.
