So what's your take on this?

Jaime Beck's Images

- Do you take value on this form of photography?
- Do you find these techniques useful in the creation of fine art work (delivered digitally of course)
- Would you see a this as a growing trend in the art enthusiast or purely for commercial application?

I have actually seen a lot of these pop up all over the place recently but mostly from the fine artists within photography. It seems to be more of a select group of people creating these animated .gifs and they all seem to be more for digital display purposes or as accompanying pieces of art to more major art forms such as sculptures, paintings or still photographs. I find them intriguing but annoying at times as it does not give you eye any rest while staring into the image. It is constantly moving and therefore your eye is too, which, for me at least, takes away from the point of staring into a photograph.

Yes, that was my first impression too. too distracting.

but for a client. not sure it would work. because this type of photography would only work online. but not on print

from a commercial perspective, it could be interesting. I can imagine the multiple scenarios this could apply for advertising.
let's say a man's cologne ad featuring a chick that smirks and winks at you, add to that a giggling sound and even throw there some scent of the perfume activated by a motion sensor. ha! :P
