I guess I either missed it or nobody answered my question:
is there a limit for the amount of photos stored on their server? I am not even talking about the quality, see it as "I have a lot of my greatest photos"

I'm curious - has your initial euphoria for this site died down?
When I look at your sites I see most of you are still under 30 photos despite being members for a few months.
What gives?

Yeah, I'd be happy if I get 3-5 photos up there a year. I'm even thinking of going through and pulling some down that I don't really feel are up to my standards anymore.

Many people here with thousands of pics on Flickr have less than 20 on 500px. What is it about the site that inhibits you from downloading more? Is it the silly public display of the rating?

I guess I'll hold off with the paid account until I see how 500px goes through growing pains. i know zenfolio and smugmug had various issues when their sites took off in popularity. We'll see if 500px can handle the increased traffic/capacity. I like how 500px displays the images. I'd like to be able to organise them in groups (like sets in Flickr).

I guess I'll sign up for a freebie first.

I wonder if it is as easy to post photos from 500px as it is from flickr. That would be a big reason not to move for me.

I DO like the portfolio aspect of 500px. It displays better than Flickr and it is customizable.

With Flickr it is possible to replace a photo which is helpful if you re-work a RAW file. Does anyone see a similar ability on 500px?

And if one deletes a photo on 500px do they get to upload a replacement or would that count as one of the 20 uploads per week?

they're russians in T.O. :)

Yeah I wondered about that when I clicked on their link showcasing photographers who were members and discovered they were all Russian (or Ukrainian?) as well.
But it looks like they are predominantly Russian-Canadians running the show (if you read their blog - lots of behind-the-scene photos).
Looks like they are havimg a party this Saturday. From their blog:
