Well, for those of us who dont have a high end and expensive monitor for editing that comes with it's own monitor hood/shroud, I tried making one out of light hard board form Staples. It's pretty straightforward, but here is a guide just in case:

I just needed a 28" piece across and i ended up making all three parts from the same big black piece of board so the entire thing costs less than $7 bux.

Results? Great! Maybe one of the best adjustments you can do to your monitor for editing pictures so you dont have to worry about ambient light affecting your vision/perception of the screen. Colors and clarity look great, even when the room light is on and i dont have to work in the dark anymore, which can cause eye strain otherwise since the monitor would be the only bright thing in the room.

i recommend trying it!
