so I was finally able to stitch my largest pano to date. I decided to post it here, as I had a few questions from members.
details:

*image: final image size is 43018 X 17882(tiff format). I had to downsize to 30000 pixels on the long side to be able to save to jpg format. pano is made out of 251 images (D700 in FX mode), using the Bigma at 500 mm.

*pano head/ tripod: As I do not own any automated or manual pano heads, this was shot using a regular ball head. as result I had to deal with some distortion as some of the shot are off the nodal point.

* post: after multiple crashes and freezes( PC and apps), full processing took about 5 hours plus time spent getting rid of lens distortion, and blending issues. in the process, I has to do a number of format conversions as both PS and my pano tool( PTGui) hit some upper size limits. final posted jpg image is 17327 X 10894

* final note: I know the tower is a bit tilted but I got tired of waiting 3 minutes for Photoshop to scroll the page down.

for obvious reasons you will get to see a zoomable image.

My other panos are here: http://www.pixelrecord.com/zoom/panos.htm

next target: a distortion free gigapixel image.

Eddie

Very nice Eddie. I would have just used a wide angle lens :)

Hey! Very cool indeed. Nice to be able to zoom in all the way to see the detail ... I should do that with a 7 stiched pano shot I have.

Thanks for posting this :D
