So I might be doing a few assignments in NYC this year and next, and did some research and found this:

Eligibility Criteria for Canadian Citizens

If you are a Canadian citizen, then you are not required to apply for a visa with a U.S. consulate or file a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You can request admission as a TN nonimmigrant at a U.S. port of entry, and you must provide the following documentation:

* Proof of Canadian citizenship
* Letter from your prospective employer detailing items such as the professional capacity in which you will work in the United States, the purpose of your employment, your length of stay, your educational qualifications
* Credentials evaluation (if applicable)

If you are eligible following inspection by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer, then you will be admitted as a TN nonimmigrant. Form I-94, Arrival/ Departure Record, will be evidence of your admission.

Anyone deal with this before? From what I interpret, all we need is a letter from the client stating the above?

I just want to hear some experience and if anyone else has run into issues as Canadians working temporarily in the states.

It's pretty easy if you have the right letter of employment.

What they look for is that your job description is exactly what is a specified category in the nafta agreement. That your education background backs up the job. Job can not be permanent although you can renew yearly you should not specify that the job will last more then a year, There are also restrictions on applying for other types of status such as land immigrant while you are under the TN1.

I have worked in the US on a NAFTA Visa (TN) and my wife works in Canada on one right now.

It does not apply to photographers.

Here is the list of jobs that it applies to:
