Download and install this on you system and use it along with Google Maps. It's your two BEST friends for find ideal sunrise/sunset locations anywhere in the world.

You may need to install Adobe AIR.

Location-wise, I've seen nice sunsets down at the harbourfront, and of course, this past weekend we saw it from the flipside on the island. The tool that Carlton pointed out is also essential to give you the proper timing.

I'd like to find a location to take photos if the sunrise and sunset at the solstices and one of the equinoxes to see the extremes of where the sun comes up and goes down, north and south wise that is.

Nice tool...

gonna try this too. I spent the summer trying to find a sunset that sets on top of the water but it's difficult to find in Toronto, since our lake is on the south side of the City.

I think it would be a lot easier in the winter when the sun sets a lot farther south than in the summer. But even then I'm not sure where thougth. The shoreline also goes in a southerly direction to the west.

You can take sunrise photo and call it a sunset. I've had people call one of my sunrise photos "a nice sunset" :)

BTW did anyone catch tonight's sunset? I left work almost to late to see any of it and there were buildings in the way but what I did see looked quite colourfull.
