They missed the 27 times that the client asks for a 'small fix' and needs it done by tomorrow.

Hope so. In one case I reworked a design over 30 times, over the course of a week, because it "just wasn't quite right." Ultimately I ended up with something that was virtually indistinguishable from the 4th pass.

There are a few of those movies on Youtube and I think I watched them all .... cracked up at how true they really are.

Then I felt like looking for a new profession.

I seriously hope they paid for your time for each of the 30 redesigns.

...

The videos were just wonderful. If you are one to go on Craigslist daily, and get jobs from that, you will meet up with crazy clients like in this video. They should have one for the photographer vs. model hired from craigslist.

Good idea we could script right here.

Model: Where is the wardrobe?

GWC: Didn't I tell you this is a nude shoot. I'm a professional and only do TFCD for special models. You will get loads of exposure leading to many more jobs of the same type.

That one was for a friend, who really didn't understand (or want to understand; not sure which) how much work I was being asked to do. I have since made myself 'unavailable' to do any additional such work.

Fortunately I don't do that sort of thing for a living, or I'd have gone running through a shopping mall with a machete long ago.

I have been the "IT Guy" for twenty years. and if I had a dollar for everytime I heard, "Do you mind taking a look at my system? It should only take a minute"
I can't remember the last time one of my lawyer (plumber/electrician, insert designation here) friends offered to come to my home and do a few hours of Pro-bono work...

I know that feeling too, as I've been in IT the same amount of time as you. It's really fun to have a job that makes people feel free to ask for free advice/work, and a hobby where people expect to be given free stuff (prints, files).

For every qualified pro that will respectfully turn down spec work or unrealistic expectations there are 50 want-to-be pros who will do it. That's the bigger problem as it cheapens the profession.

Btw, by pro it could be Design, IT, coding, photography etc...
