Hello guys,

I'm new in the forum but could already see a lot of useful information over here!

I found this forum during my research about Canon Technical support in Toronto Area. Could you please give me any recommendations?

I have a Canon 7D and the glass from my lens' filter broke into pieces (I don't know how  ) and I can see part of the broken glass inside the lens...

I am hoping to find a place which can solve this issue for me.

Thank you!

Fabiana

Hi

If it is just the filter that broke glass should not get into the lens.
Just carefully remove the filter and blow any glass pieces from the front of the lens. Don't wipe as that may scratch the lens.
If the front element is damaged or broken then it will have to go in for servicing. If you are unsure you can take it to your local camera store
and let someone take a look at it. Or you can post a photo of it here and give us a better idea of what is happening.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for your answer. I have already removed the filter but you still can see some parts of the glass.
In the link below there are two pics of my lens. In the second one, the small pieces of glass are inside the lens. I also thought that it wasn't possible that the broken glass from the filter would be inside the lens, but I think it's too few to be any optical element damage. Maybe I'm wrong... But if it any internal component is also damaged, then things are worse than I thought... Anyway, I need to find a place to take it and check what is wrong.

That does look bad but hopefully not to expensive to repair.

The address for the Toronto area is

CANON CANADA INC.
8000 Mississauga Rd
Brampton, Ontario L6Y 5Z7
(905)863-8000

Or this place is good too

Sun Camera Service
2150 Steeles Avenue West Unit # 5
Concord, ON L4K 2Y7
(Northeast of Steeles Ave & Keele St)

Phone: (905) 669 - 6406
Fax: (905) 669 - 5127
Email: info@suncameraservice.ca

Good luck with your repair :)
