Hello! I hope someone can give me some advice on this camera. It was given to me, and I've decided to sell it but I have no idea what it might be worth. Searching the Internet for a price is giving me a wide range of results, and I'm unsure of what I have here, or what a fair price would be. It has a 50mm lens, and appears to be in pretty decent shape. Any ideas?

I tried to post this in the selling forum, but I haven't the required amount of posts yet to view that forum. Hopefully I will have soon.

Thanks!

If you want help to judge the condition of the camera please post pictures and I am sure others will be able to give you a decent estimation

Thanks for your reply! I don't think I'm able to post photos here yet, but I created a photobucket account and posted some photos of the camera there. Here they are:

top of my head says around <$1000 if that. but more likely less. ELX bodies aren't in as much demand as regular bodies afaik. good luck and I'm guessing this is not something you would use.

Based on just the photos it looks like the camera body is about a 7-8/10 condition. most likely without a battery conversion (some online resellers will have swapped out the internals to make use of current lithium ion battery technology) and the lens is a CF model in about the same 7-8/10 condition. maybe a bit higher but hard to really tell without hands on the camera. As lab grunt expressed above the camera body itself is really not in demand and so it sells for much lower than other bodies. the lens is a harder to come by but still very available/affordable lens and nothing really spectacular (the CFi-LE version for example fetches anywhere from 800-4000 depending on condition) so as a package you would be very lucky to even get $1000. and locally is hard as well as Toronto/GTA has a lower demand for this type of camera.

This being said it does seem to be missing the shutter button which can be a problem and without inspecting the internals there is no way to truly gauge the value. Batteries could have corroded in the compartment, the shutter could leak/be damaged, the mirror may freeze up/jam due to sticky gears, the back could have non matching serials leading to light leaks or have a worn out light seal or banged up dark slide. all in all I would say just by looking at the camera $450-1000 is the plausible range. for the entire package. Hopefully none of this issues I mentioned above are present but likely there is always 1 or two minor flaws that bring down the value. Both of my current hash's have their issues but you just learn to make them work.
