just an fyi, astrophotographers are drooling over this camera. that's Nikon's intended market. they'll thinking nothing of the price and the camera, however limited the run, will not stay on shelves

Did anybody who had a D800 really need a D810? All Nikon did was drive the value down of the D800 when it released the D810. "Sorry I'm still not to happy about it". When your $3000.00 camera is disposable in 3 years it's a sad state for us consumers.

I dunno but the extra fps and more importantly, the extremely quiet shutter, would make me think about upgrading if I had a D800. It's academic however, as I have the D750. Astronomers have no problem parting with their money when it comes to equipment that will make life easier.

I think D800E is still enough.
