I am hoping that there are some Olympus OM-D knowledgable users here.

I picked up an OM-D body and gathered that there is a firmware update available for it. I when to the Olympus site and downloaded their Digital Camera updater.

The problem is that the software says it is unable to work with this camera. Looking into why, I see that I might have to first upgrade the firmware to a firmware version that works with this app.

However looking into this, I found that my camera's firmware says it is 1.5, but the latest ( if I am reading it right ) is 1.4 according to Olympus's web site. So now I am confused as to how the camera I have has newer firmware than what is out there.

Remember that there are a couple of cameras now that fit into the OM-D category; the E-M5 and the E-M1. Which do you have? The lenses also have their own firmware versions, which are reported by Updater. I just use Viewer, myself.

If you're having difficulty with the update there could be a couple of reasons. It could be as simple as failing to select Storage Mode on the camera, when it's plugged into the PC. There could be an issue with your USB ports on the computer. Other software, like for an external storage device or photo downloader programme, could be interfering with access.
