I've had a bad experience with a SDHC memory card. It malfunctioned during a photo walk and I lost all photos that I had taken that were on the card. It was a brand new card at the time. I've never purchased another card from that brand and usually stick to either Sandisk or Lexar. But, I was wondering if there are any other brands that you use and trust and would recommend?

There are also Kingston, PNY and Transcend. I almost always use Sandisk. Not an area you want to save money :)
A good card will last for years but at the same time can fail without notice. All you can do is stick with a reputable brand name and hope for the best.
A little research on the web and you can get an idea of what works best for you camera.

I only use Sandisk and Lexar, had zero issues in 8 years. and I would recommend keep checking B&H for good deals. The cost ratio is like 1:2 or 1:3 vs. buying here. As much as I would like to contribute to the Canadian economy, the price is just too high.

I throw out my cards after every use and get new ones.

Seriously though, I just wait for Sandisk cards to go on sale at CC/Henrys/FS/BB/Amazon.ca and the prices are usually pretty close to the US. Or at least low enough that it doesn't make sense to shop down south.

*disclaimer: the largest CF card I've ever bought is a 30mb/s 8gb. I'm not shopping for mega-bucks super-fast 32gb+ cards here.

I think I will stick to the Sandisk & Lexar cards. I usually purchase them when they go on sale. Normally Henry's has them for a great price during the Exposure Show. If they have them again this year for a similar deal as last year, I will pick up a few more.

I actually knew someone who would fill a memory card with pictures and then just purchase a new one. They used them as little storage devices. Not something I would recommend. I back everything up on my laptop and my external storage device after every shoot and then format the cards in camera before use.

Sandisk from B+H for me. My camera (5D3) supports writing to both the CF and SDHC at the same time and I usually am configured in that manner unless I need the full speed of the CF card slot for burst shooting.
