I was wondering what people's thoughts were on this new lens. I know it cannot be compared to primes but with a price tag of $1299., might not be a bad alternative for some extra reach. I was just wondering if anyone had one as I know the Canon version has been released and I think that Nikon is coming out in March, 2014.

There is a review of the lens here
http://petapixel.com/2014/01/20/tamron-150-600mm-telezoom-shootout/
Seems like a nice lens if you don't have 12k for a 600f4 :) I played with it on a Canon 6D and focus speed was slow but locked on all the time in bright sunlight.
Would not use it for birds in flight but looked good otherwise. (only got to zoom in on camera LCD )
If I didn't have the Canon 100-400 I might consider this lens.

Thanks for the feedback! I was just wondering if it was worth upgrading from the Sigma 150-500mm for the extra reach. For the money I paid for the Sigma, it has been fine. And I am not in any way comparing it to a prime lens but it has suited my purposes as I just do not have the budget for a prime lens. I shoot Nikon so I cannot compare it to the Canon 100-400 but I have a friend who has that lens and he has been very pleased with it.

Just picked mine up for EF mount. I sold my 100-400mm to get this one, as the reviews for 100-400mm range showed the two lenses being on par that I figured it was worth the extra reach. Tested out only for an hour so far in the evening on Sunday, and definitely need more light for BIF, but other than that I think it's pretty good. I was using it on my 7D in evening light and tr focus accuracy was very good. Speed was decent but I was shooting in failing light and at the longer end around 500mm. Bokeh looked ok on the crop sensor, but I'll have to try it out on FF. Even though it is plastic it still feels very good, and lighter than it should. VC works good as well. I'll need more time to confirm if I'm happy with the purchase.

When I had emailed them on Friday, they seemed to have 2 in stock. One was being transferred to the downtown store, and the other was at Pacific Mall (which is where I got mine).

Dustin Abbott did a review of this lens and it has a video comparing the AF speed to the Canon 70-300L - the Tamron faired very well.

I email Aden shortly after your post and they said they had none in stock and were expecting within 10 days. They email me last Thursday that they had a 'handful" and I rushed down to grab one.
Thanks a million for the tip Itsaphoto !! I would still be waiting for Henry's....
