I acquired this lens with the D700 I picked up. I never have really been a wide angle person. Anyway been playing around with it and the jury is still out. Here is a test shot. jpeg unedited straight from the camera. Anyone else have any experience with it?

Looks like you've listed it on Kijiji already. Guess you gave up on the lens? That's a pretty decent test picture.

I did. I think I am after a mid range zoom with VR. seams like a decent lens, just don't like wide angle.

I see nothing wrong with the shot posted above, what's not working for you technically? If it's just the range that's bothering you that's fair too.

I think it's just the range. I have been shooting a bit with it. Just use to working with longer glass. Think I will keep it around for a bit. See what kind of results I can get.
