My old P&S (Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3) seems to have grown legs sometime between May 20 and this past weekend and is nowhere to be found. So I need a replacement.

I figure the budget is around $300.

This will be my travel camera and general usage stuff (ie: photos for Craigslist/Kijiji, day out at the beach etc). I want an extended zoom, compact size, and good battery life. The Panasonic gave me the first two but I needed to carry a second battery. I hope the technology has gotten much better since 2010.

I don't want interchangable lenses and I don't need things like RAW shooting, 564987 megapickles or all kinds of fancy bells and whistles like touchscreens, wifi, or prostate massagers. Simple, basic, and with a good lens on it is what this man wants.

I'm open to suggestions on what you may have used recently that you can offer some insight on. And I have no qualms about buying a model one or two years old on clearance if the price is right. So if you know of any deals out there, holler!

Canon S110, Panasonic ZS25, Sony HX10v would be a few of my picks

Stick with Panasonic. ZS25 should serve you right.
