http://www.parallax-effect.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/GhettoCAL-Template.pdf

Just wanted to share something I made yesterday it's kind of like LensAlign or SpyderLensCal but a DIY version.

You basically just need to print out the template I made, tape it to a foam core board and slice out the components.

If you need more details on the steps I have a post written on my blog: http://www.parallax-effect.ca/2013/03/12/the-ghettocal-my-diy-lens-calibration-tool-for-micro-adjustment-enabled-dslr-cameras/

But it's pretty straight forward.

So for those of you with camera's capable of "Fine Tune" or "Micro Adjust." I hope you can make use of this.

For those not sure what lens calibration is there's a ton of good stuff online about it, that can likely explain it infinitely better than I can.

Total time was 15 minutes to put together with office supplies and left over foam core.

I've tried using lens calibration printouts before with my 70-200 zoom and I found it almost impossible to do. Any advice?

What type of issue do you run into that makes it hard?

As I recall, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 4 feet. Trying to do the calibration on a 8x11 sheet of paper on an angle, I had a difficult time with the markings. I couldn't determine if any of the micro adjustments were having any effect until I moved the adjustments to the extreme.

Thanks, I've seen that. There's nothing wrong with the focus of my lens. I was just trying out the calibration charts floating around the internet.
