Geez... 24MP? Going to need a new computer to handle those huge files... and hard drives are already crying.

Still no sign of D300 update?

Maybe I should take more care of my D80, 'cause it doesn't look like I'll be upgrading soon. Or am I collecting too many lenses?

I wouldn't be surprised if there never was a D300 upgrade. If they had any plans of upgrading the D300 they would have probably kept the D7000 plastic instead of magnesium alloy to maintain the balance between the "pro" and "consumer" DX bodies.

There's a D400 on the radar according to the image in this post:

Specs seem very impressive on paper, but that only says so much.

I expect the D7100 sensor is probably derived from the well regarded sensor in the Sony a77 and NEX-7.

Hey Dave,
You chose the D7100 over the D600? Just curious as to why.

Thom Hogan seems to think this is a Toshiba sensor.

The D7100 seams like a good camera but its not something that is few levels above the D7000.
It looks like a simple upgrade from the already amazing D7000.
For those who want the best DX body in the market the D7100 should be the camera of choice but those who own the D7000 I wouldnt say its worth upgrading to the D7100.
I have a D7000 and see no reason to upgrade to the D7100, if I would consider upgrading it would be to the D600 FX body.

I don't like the D600.... Weird grip, and frankly....I already have a D800, so why settle for second best. I plan to gift the D7000 to my wife, and then the D7100 will replace it as my backup / wildlife body.

Got my D7100 in hand..... Huge improvement. I will be heavily testing her out for the next couple of weeks.

Oh ya...the new plan is to give Shannon a D3200... The D7000 is too much camera for her. Plus kit lens.

I see no reason to upgrade from the d7000 but if you are in the market for a DX body camera then currently the D7100 is the best camera in town and for a very resonable price too.

Huge reason for me --- no AA filter = sharper images, and vastly improved video functionality over the D7000.

I've been looking at reviews on this camera and am interested in upgrading from my T3i to the D7100. Has anyone bought one yet ? I havent found much hands on review on this camera except a few which were not the actual release. Any thoughts?

T3i is still pretty new, what doesn't it do that you need is a question you really need to ask yourself.

Plus you'd be moving from Nikon to Canon - oh the horror!! Opps i mean from canon to Nikon - might be a good idea ;) In addition now you also have to buy new lenses for that D7100. My advice, unless the camera cannot do something specific you need (fast AF and frame rate for say sports). Then your $$ is better spent upgrading your lenses first.

Jordan has sa point... what is the T3i not doing for you? It could be the glass...

I don't know who else has a D7100 here, but so far I guess I am the only one talking... and I love the new camera. The AF is vastly improved from the 7K, I am going to be doing some shooting tomorrow at the zoo - so I am really hoping to put this camera to the test tomorrow. So far my initial shooting with it has been excellent. May of the functions are similar to my much larger D800 in operation - with the exception that the button layout is quite a bit different. The shutter is nice a quiet, and video recording is nice. There are also a few annoying things, but of course - there is no one perfect camera body - one of the annoying things is the inability to change aperture in live view mode. You have to take the camera out of live view, make the change, and then back in - this is annoying for video recording.

I saw this camera and read some reviews as well on it and i actually like this camera. It is 24megapixel which will improve resolution 50% more rather than its old model d7000. It will provide high image quality even at high iso.

Does 7100 share the same back focusing issue that D7000 has?
