Since the 'Resource' forum is locked, I thought I'd post in here.

What apps do you guys use...preferably free ones?

On Android, I recently discovered Light Meter Tools, which I will certainly buy after the trial runs out.

I wish there was a Android equivalent to FilmEXIF on iOS.

If you shoot tethered to C1 then Capture Pilot is great. It allowes clients to view captures from their iPhone or iPad. Rather than having them hover over your computer.

Foliobook is a nice presentation app. Great if you want to make custom portfolio galleries for your iPad.

For teaching I like to use http://camerasim.com/ which is available for Mac, Windows, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, and online. I think for iPad it was $1.99.

A Chrome Extension for Looking Up the Histogram of Any Online Photograph

Edit: I just grabbed this. Works on mine, pretty neat.

Glad you guys like the Ephemeris. It is a great tool.

ND Timer:
http://three60.com/services/apps-widgets/ndtimer/

For anyone who does long exposures with ND filters, you know that manually calculating exposure time to account for the presence of ND filters (you generally can't focus much with a darker ND filter) can be a nuisance. There are several exposure calculators that can be used to help with this, I happen to use ND Timer. You meter a baseline with no ND filters on your camera, plug that into the app, choose how many of what type of filters you're using, the app spits out a target exposure time.

If you do any cine/video work or go back and forth between formats pCAM is expensive at $30 but a great tool.

It has a unique DOF calculator function... You can feed in the distance of the near and far subject and it will tell you what aperture to use and where to focus to get both subjects in focus. It has a ton of other exposure/focus tools. My favourites are the colour correction tool and the built in Siemens star which can be used as a focus target.
