I'd like to try some Strobist photography. Just wondering what your opinions are on these triggers or any other triggers for that matter?

I'm thinking Yongnuo not to break the bank in case being a Strobist isn't my thing.

I have 3 RF-602 Triggers and 6 Receivers. For the price I haven't had any issues.

I have 4 RF603 transmitter/receivers. They work great with my strobes. Apparently strobes have a slightly higher trigger voltage than camera flashes, so I get a few miss fires with strobes, and less with camera flashes. The 2 AAA Duracell batteries have lasted me close to 4000 images. The speed limit is about 1/300 of a second. You would need the more expensive triggers if you want faster shutter speed. For the price, they are fantastic. You might want to remove the batteries when you are not using them. I had some batteries in there that went dead after a bit of usage and a month of storage. Not sure if the RF603 drained them even while turned off or the cheapy batteries were old from the store - even though they were dated fresh.

Thanks for the input. The odd misfire will not bother me.

Gonna get me a set of these triggers.

I have a set of them for my 430EX, and yes, they do misfire about 1/10 shots.
One little negative point is that once you attach them to the flash, the flash unit will block the on/off switch.

For the price, I'm very happy with them. I will probably get another set when I expand with a YN560 flash.

I also have 4 x rf603, I did not test them extensively but with my limited experience they are quite reliable for the price. I am now using yn622 triggers.

I'm about to buy a pair of yn622 to take advantage of the extra speed. Care to share some of your experiences with them?

My experience on the yn622 has been positive so far. I can now control the flash remotely on my camera body (5d2 or 7d). It has a built in focus assist light which is handy when shooting in low light.

Thanks - I'll be using these with my monolights.

I have the 602's and have never misfired even with strobes. Dunno why people get pocket wizards for 100x the price.

Just to clarify - when you say strobes do you mean monolights, not portable flashes? Wonder why the older model would be more reliable. I wonder if the 602s and the 603s are compatible.

Yes. The 602's have an adaptor that can connect to studio strobes.

Anyone know if they'll be making these for Nikon soon? I've considered buying the Phottix Odin but hesitant in paying $160 for extra receivers.

Thanks to urbanite asking the question and everyone else for their answers, I'm getting some good info here.
Does anybody have any experience with the Pixel brand King triggers by any chance?

Just a quick note, the new YN560III flash integrates the 602/603 receiver into the flash itself. Only costs $10 more than the YN560II. I'll be picking one up eventually, I'm very pleased with the 560II.

I just put an order in for Yongnuo YN568EX High-Speed Sync Flash. I'll have to upgrade my triggers to take advantage of HSS. Will be getting the YN-622.

The YN-622c triggers are great. They allow for HSS as well as a mix mode where you can have your on camera flash in eTTL and the ambient stop strobe/flash in manual.

Apparently the misfires can be caused by using rechargeables instead of alkalines.

Nikon version on the way:

I have had RF-602's for years - rock solid. 603's are transceivers meaning you don't need to buy seperate Tx/Rx but 603's sync a third of a stop slower (1/200 vs 1/250) than 602's.

As for 622's - I have had four of them for months and did a shoot with zero mis-fires. I highly recommend them - it is like having a OEM flash directly connected to your camera.
