Well it's almost official - fujifilm X-E1

Looks pretty sweet - especially if it really is going for $1000.

Still waiting to hear about my X-pro1 new firmware

Hmm, I was looking for something lighter to compliment my D700, this looks like the ticket. I would love to get the X1-Pro but at $2k it's just too rich. Hopefully there aren't any issues with the X-E1.

Hey the X-E1 has a diopter adjustment. How odd.

So the question is when is it to be released?

I see that the X-E1 is up for pre-order on a number of camera store sites with and without the 18-55 mm zoom. Kind of wondering why the new Fujifilm XF 14mm is $300 ($899) more than the XF 18mm f2.0 or XF 35mm f1.4 ($599)!

From my understanding fuji has done a little upgrading of the newer lenses coming out. They all have faster internal motors and so will focus faster. I think they have removed the manual focus by-wire as well and used normal focus system (not sure on this). And also the 18mm requires in-camera or software to to fix some of the lens distortion. From what I have read it seems the 14mm requires no distortion correction, so more complicated glass inside.

Well it's official the new X-Pro1's new firmware is out. I've downloaded it but I'm too tired to install and try out. I will do so when I'm done work tomorrow and take the new firmware for a spin in downtown Calgary.

I'm not positive but I think Fuji has developed these newest batch of sensors in-house.

Not really sure - I haven't really read much about it. It has the same sensor as my x10 - so has that going for it. Not sure how good the lens is. The x10 lens was quite nice. Best bet is to read a few reviews of it and similar cameras like the canon s110 and see what meets your GF's needs.

Does anything know of a replacement for the X100 in the pipeline? The X100 seems like a good camera, with a few faults that could be remedied in a new version.

For those of you with an X-pro1 or the new X-E1 it looks like Phase One's Capture One will be getting an update that may finally crack the nut of raw with the x-trans sensor.

http://www.fujirumors.com/feedback-capt ... nlocked-2/

If this holds true I may have to save up some $$ for a new raw converter!

Fuji claiming "world's fastest autofocus" and a few other new goodies. It's great the way they're trucking along, goes without saying they're releasing great stuff as of late.

The updates to the x100 seem quite impressive - especially the new focusing features. If the next revision of the x-pro gets upgrades like this it will be one even sweeter camera!

I really hope the focus peaking does come as a firmware update for the x-pro1 (based on comments by the Fuji Guys that appears to be the case). I have a couple of manual focus lenses I'm using so focus peaking will help a lot!

I just love how Fuji is trying to move up the bar, not by more megapixels, but by unique features that rethink how things work (I.e the new split image manual focus option)

And the updated capture one pro raw software has been released with true x-trans sensor support!

http://www.fujirumors.com/capture-one-7 ... 14-00-cet/

I am going to download the trial version and check it out! But it looks very promising.

A new firmware is suppose to be on the horizon - mainly to add compatibility with the new 14mm lens - but also suppose to improve autofocus performance in general. Any improvement will be welcome!!

New firmware for the X-Pro1 and XE available. Also a new lens firmware for the 35mm. Suppose to improve autofocus performance and initial reports are it does indeed help. I'll be updating mine later today.

Just updated the new firmwares and can definitely seen an improvement in AF speed of the 35mm, particularly in dark conditions, it's barely hunting and locking on fairly regularly. Good job Fuji!

Adobe just released a new Release Canidate for its raw converter for Lightroom and photoshop. Included in this is updated support for the x-trans sensor. Initial reports show that it's as good if not slightly better than Capture One's support. Being a Photoshop owner I won't have to fork over additional $$ to finally get good raw support for my x-pro1. Will have to pick some photos and give if a whirl over the next few days.

Here's the link to thr dpreview article.

http://www.dpreview.com/articles/155054 ... ing-tested

Now if Apple would only do a major upgrade to Aperture (with similar quality x-trans support I'd be one happy camper indeed!!)

Rumour! Apple will be supporting the x-trans sensor when they release The newest update to Aperture (Aperture X), whenever that is. Although my gut is telling me it will be either released or announced at their developer conference this June along with the new Mac OS and iOS. Here's hoping it kicks some Lightroom booty. Aperture has been feeling second rate for far too long.

And on a secondary note, for those of you reading this thread, I just picked up fuji's new 14mm 2.8 UWA lens. So far looks very sweet.

Well thats not fully accurate! Apple does regularly release updated RAW support (yes it is at times behind adobe) but since its system wide update (applies equally to the OS itself, iphoto and aperture) it does regularly get done - sometimes a few months after Adobe and sometimes within weeks. All depends.

However, Aperture 3 is definitely showing its age and really needs a major upgrade (last update was to just fix some bugs and add retina display support). Rumours are still floating around about an Aperture X upgrade coming out soon. I am hoping something will be released/announced at Apples World Wide Developers Conference (usually in the beginning of June).
