Wowsa. As interesting as the 3200 is, did anyone see the 28 f/1.8G? That's caught my attention!

Nikon's new trend is releasing high MP sensors, and FF 1.8 primes.

I'll pass on the 3200, still waiting for the d300s replacement.

Which will be the 3200 sensor in a pro body. Should be a nice camera.

it'll be interesting to see if the new sensor will match or outdo the d7k sensor in terms of low light.. did sony make this 24mp?

I'll stick with my D7000 for now as a backup... its lower mp will be a welcomed compliment to my D800 (when it eventually arrives)...

It's on Nikon.ca now .... and you know... for $750, I'd get one to have kicking around... heck, for that kind of resolution and features, and the ability to use most of my f-mount lenses .... its cheap. but I still stand by my decision to keep the D7000....

Seeing the early samples just posted on flickr, I'd say its comparable to my ff for a whole lot less.

I guess it will be close.. go to dxomark.com and compare Sony NEX7 and Nikon D7000

Did SLT kill Sony A77 ISO score?

http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Camera ... 3%29/Nikon

I think D3200 will be a good landscape camera or maybe even studio.. definitely not action camera (still old D90 multi-cam1k).

edit: of course you won't get FF dynamic range in DX size.

How is dynamic range related to sensor size? Does the Canon 5D have better DR than 7D because of the sensor size? I would think it would have a lower dynamic range simply because the sensor was built that way. And for many purposes, especially printing, the DR is hardly an issue because the DR of print is much lower. I'm waiting for some tests to see how it will perform. Point and shoot pixel interpolation make them unacceptable for large prints. I hope the D3200 doesn't have that problem.

Hmm.. I thought it is about pixel size.
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossar ... nge_01.htm

Latest generation of sensors:
D3200 has smaller pixel size than D800.

But according to
http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Camera ... 3%29/Nikon

D800 DR > D7K DR > D4 DR

very confusing....

Here's an iso 1600 sample on flickr (not mine). What do you guys think of the noise?

She's looks ok but that poor boy has a 5 o'clock shadow already. Soccer moms will love it.

I wonder how well it compares to the Sony 24 MP DX sensor like the one in the NEX7? From what I have heard, the Sony suppose to be pretty clean at least 3200 iso (haven't really looked at any samples to qualify that - just going by some of what I read by some reviewers). That iso 1600 photo isn't overly impressive to me. I just hope we don't start that stupid MP race on DSLRs like we did on P&S cameras, which eventually led to reduced image quality and manufacturers eventually dialing down the MPs.

J.

5 o'clock shadow is ok. Just like that perpetually teenage guy Harry Potter - who he has one all the time. Guess its catching on to the younger folks.

Why get a D800. Build quality! D3200 is an entry level body.

I would agree - depending on how it specs out. Hopefully you can get more than 50,000 clicks out of it.

Well, for anyone looking for an entry level camera.... D3200 is definately the way to go. I need something more robust, so the D800 is my choice of body. It will stand up to my abuse.

But will it stand up to the same abuse as THREE D3200s?

Note to myself, don't buy D800 here when D900 comes out in future :D

If you want to go by that theory.....

80" Industrial flatscreen TV cost = $50,000.00

80" Consumer flatscreen TV cost = $5,000.00

you can have 9 spare for that cost. I guess you have a point... :)

But like I said ... D800 is better built... I am still happy for Nikon and the D3200 - its a great body for someone looking to start out, and find out how much hard-drive space they'll need quickly! :)

Having worked in that particular industry - sometimes they're the exact same screen - just packaged differently and given the industrial label.
