I just got mine today, played with it a bit at the store and can't wait to go home and try it some more!

Ergonomically, its better and also the button layout is much more convenient. I didn't have the LX3, but I used it on a number of occasions. Didn't really like the joystick so I'm glad they got rid of it on the LX5

Anyone else get one?

Nope but I do have a Samsung EX1. Love this thing!

i was actually debating between that and the LX5..

the 1.8 was definitely appealing, but i heard the overall IQ wasn't as good or rather that the camera as a whole felt a bit "unpolished" or "raw"

I've always been impressed by Panasonic's P&S. It's the other brand I recommend other than Canon for compact cameras. Rugged but sleek at the same time.

Try it out, I think it's the best P&S out there - the build, feel and ergonomics is outstanding. I had aS90 before, returned it after 2 weeks. Great camera but I was not quite blown away, tried to love it because my raw workflow involved Canon's DPP. I waited for the LX3 successor to come out then this EX1 wooed me before it happened :)

My only gripe is that after taking a shot, it felt a big sluggish writing to the card. The IQ is outstanding from ISO 80-200 and 400 is pretty good. The lens is quite good. Good colours and I love the 24mm UWA. Love the hotshoe adapter feature -worked well with my auto-thyristor flashes, as well as my cybersync triggers.

Go to Henry's try it out. I got mine from B&H at $399 usd. It is bigger than the LX3, reminds me of a rangefinder.

being an actual leica lens, how is the corner sharpness on this thing??

I prob. should go and check it out hands on with a mem card and check the pics at home.

Also, how's the Bokeh?

And lastly, are you sure it wasn't just a slightly slow mem card that was used?
or maybe it was the LX5's buffer working slow... if so, too bad.
considering the new 24mm summilux is $6000+ lol. This is a nice alternative.

To be honest, being a point and shoot, I'm not really looking for tack sharp images or anything, so I haven't really "pixel peeped" it yet.

That said, it is a very capable camera. I was testing it out earlier with some high ISO shots in RAW (imported into LR3.2 RC). Initially, I turned off the NR but it seems that at ISo6400 and above it turns it back on automatically (not sure if I can override this). I'll post them in this thread in a bit.

I'm interested in this P&S also, but I would like to see some ultra high ISO performances first.

Would really like to see those 1600 and 3200 shots.

Got one :) This thing is the cutest little camera I've ever had.

One question though. What is a good strap for this particular cam? I'm looking for one that I can just grip my wrist. Also on the market for a compact protective case for this.

So excited to play with my new toy

Can someone confirm that you can zoom while taking a video on the LX5? Thanks.

LX5 - is there any discernible shutter lag? i.e. can you point at any object and snap a photo within 1/2 sec?
