Hi,
I want to buy a umbrella and a flash trigger to build a basic lighting setup. I own a Canon XSI and a 480II flash.
Will RF-602 work with my camera/flash?
This trigger is sold out in dealextreme, where else can I get it (reliable ebay store?)?

which umbrella?
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5123
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14409

I have a Sherpa 200 tripod, what else do I need to by to use it as the light stand?
do I need something like this:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33540

as you can see I am on a budget :-)

any other suggestions?

Yup, will work with your flash,

1. get the sku.5123 (white shoot through quite useful especially learning)
2. you will need that holder

I have bought things on DX before and be prepared that some stuff just isn't the best quality.

You get what you pay for at dealextreme so exercise caution when you consider them. http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html has a good start up guide on the equipment you'll need. you can get it all for under $200

and you can also buy the RF's from hkyongnuophotoequipment on ebay. look for your model

+1 for hkyongnuophotoequipment - I just got another set of 602's to compliemnt my existing ones and they shipped super fast to my door in less than ten days. I got one of their umbrella's too for 6.99 shipping included.

As Justion mentioned, you will need an umbrella swivel adapter on a light stand, which btw, you can pick one up at Vistek here in Toronto, a 10' decent quality stand for 32.99: http://www.vistek.ca/store/ProPhotoLigh ... -10ft.aspx

+1 on the RF-602's. When you add the cost of the sync adapter and sync cable to the PT-04M's in thericyip's friend's video, you might as well be buying the RF-602 which has better reliability/compatibility.

For a basic kit I would get the RF602 (at least one transmitter and 2 receivers), basic light stand, umbrella holder and shoot through umbrella w/ black backing so you can shoot reflective as well. One good addition is to get a reflector for fill - the 5 in 1 variety should do. Oh, and a flash of course - Canon, Nikon, Lumopro, Yungnuo whatever is in your budget. If you already have the 430ex then you will be fine.

I agree 100% James. I bought this reflector for 25USD from hkyongnuophotoequipment and it is pretty darn good for the price:

Hi,
Thank you all for the advise.
I ordered the RF-602 from ebay and will order the white umbrella (sku.5123) and the 60' Swivel (sku.33540).

I understand that I will get what I paid for. Will probably upgrade to something better in the future.
