I stopped by Merkle Camera earlier today, and Patrick there tells me he has three 1D4's being shipped to him from Canon on Monday morning, that have not yet been spoken for. If anyone is interested in buying one, PM me and I'll send you his details so you can get your name on the list. Tell him I sent you, and rumour has it he might be able to get you in for $5250. ;)

I like the second one, it has less noise.

Interesting I prefer the first one because it has more fine detail (notice the feather and the letter). The second image has less noise but the lack of details dulls the image.

BTW the first one is Canon and the second one is Nikon from the first review. They both were processed exactly the same way with the new Lightroom Beta 3 colour noise filter form the high resolution but unfortunately JPEG (not RAW) images provided. The review is a typical pixel peeking flawed from the start. He starts off by saying both cameras have had noise reduction turned off, this sounds fair but is in actual fact nonsense. The high ISO modes of the new camera have sophisticated noise reduction algorithms matched and optimized to the noise characteristics of the sensor when converting to jpg they are never really turned off. Basing past reviews noise reduction off for Canon is vastly different then off for Nikon. The trade off is retaining fine details versus lower colour noisel. While Canon is the opposite. With the RAW files and the proper optimized noise reduction algorithms the results would be quite different at least for ISO 12800 and below. I would be happy with either camera. Just remember the high ISO is only partly sensor.
