I am considering upgrading ram on the new iMAC i7. As you know, it comes standard with 4GB ram.

I can either buy an additional 4GB ram (total of 8GB) for $100USD, or an additional 8GB ram (total of 12GB) for $460USD.

Is it worth the premium to go to 12GB? How much performance difference if I primarily use C1 and Photoshop? I will also use VMWare for Windows.

Also, if you know of any place in Toronto that sells Apple memory for the newest iMAC, I would love to know.

Does c1 Photoshop make use of all 12 gb of ram? If yes then it's a good idea. Just my two cents.

Your best bet is to order it from memorydepot.ca. They still don't have the memory for the new 21" and 27" iMacs, but they say on the website that if you don't see it listed you can call. I maxed out the memory (4GB) for my MacBook Pro from them, when Apple was still charging something like double the price.
