I'm curious about the (Cosina Made) Zeiss ZF nikon mount lenses.

Do you have one?
what do you think of it?
What similar focal length lenses have you owned, and how do you feel it compares?
Do you still own it?
Where did you purchase it?

I have owned manual focus lenses in the past (Nikon 50mm F/1.2 Ai-S) and shoot with a body that can meter with them.

I personally love the ZF lenses and used it on the D700 when I had the camera. That includes ZF25, ZF 50 Makro, ZF 85 and ZF100. The rendering is simply beautiful.

While I love (and have used) the Nikon 24-70 and 85,1.4, I find ZF lenses simply give me a more pleasing picture. That is from, sharpness, contrast, tone rendering and bokeh.

If I am still shooting Nikon FF, I will surely buy a collection of the ZF lenses.

ZF lenses lack the CPU in order to permit exif data, or metering on a body with an even number of digits (ie D90, D5000 etc).

Lo and behold, they announce the ZF.2 series that rectifies this little flaw. Considering the Voigtl

Sorry but I just go caught with the ZF.2. I am a newbie to these kind of lenses but all I hear about is how great they are. When they say ZF.2 do they actually mean an aperture of f.2 or f2?

I think it is version 2, that has CPU on it for metering.
