Hey all, looking to purchase a good quality macro lens for nikon that's a really good bang for the buck, any suggestions?

If you have a D200 or higher it's hard to beat a Nikkor 55/3.5, 55/2.8 or Tamron 90/2.5 macro. All can be had relatively inexpensively and while they lack AF, you don't need AF for macro work.

For AF lenses my personal favourite is the Tamron 90/2.8 Macro, although the Nikkor 60mm macros are excellent as well.

Awesome, ty for the tip, I'll try renting a couple of these and see which I like best!

I've been using the Nikon 55mm f2.8 AIS for a few years now. Superb macro lens that can be purchased for a little over $100 US.
