So why do you guys think that is?

It's been a few months since the Mk2 came out. Is this from the selloff as people get enough money to buy the Mk2 and they're looking to get rid of their Mk1 now?

Given that the T1i just got released, when do you guys think the XSi will drop heavily in price?

Not very soon I think, Just like 40D with 50D's release, but with 5D I think everyone wants to fund the purchase of MKII or yes, they already got it. There was a shortage of the new ones in first month, probably, cause everyone wanted it

I'm still very happy with my 5D's at this point and think the price is phenomenal right now for used ones. I'm not thinking of switching to the 5D2 just yet. I don't really feel a need for the 21MP (though I could shoot sRAW) and the AF is pretty much the same.

But because it uses new batteries and chargers, I won't switch until I can afford to switch all my 5D's over. No point carrying two types of batteries and chargers.

I sold my 5D last year to fund a 5D MKII. Waited and waited for my order to be filled, till I just couldn't stand not having a FF anymore and picked up a 1Ds MKII instead. Then, saw an amazing deal on a new 5D and couldn't resist. The original 5D is still an awesome camera, I'm glad I bought it ... again

It is a beast of a camera when you first start handling it. The switching between some options (ISO, shot type, etc.) can be a real pain to change due to the 2 button need to access it. The LCD is small and the camera is heavy.

On the good side, the viewfinder is freakin awesome, like looking through a window. The AF is very fast, the shutter speed oozes class, the photo IQ just makes you smile, even on the little LCD. The 16.8 MP are nothing to sneeze at, plenty of high quality pixels. I do find my 5D classic to be a bit better at the higher ISOs (above 800), but don't be fooled ... the images are still very clean if don't have to crop. Its a real joy to use with the 70-200mm F/2.8 and the 35L.

That's the thing about buying used cameras...how can you be sure you aren't getting a lemon?

And if you do, what can you even do about it?

you gotta check the camera thoroughly on site, unless it's ebay. Then you gotta live with it, you're making a compromise when you turn to used...

2 words: feedback rating. check it and you should find out if the buyer's legit or not. i love ebay as i buy and sell on there a ton and i've found GREAT DEALS ON THERE, but BUYER BEWARE.

I have also allways been "lucky" with used purchases, but you can't really check references on CL; my biggest factor has allways been my "instinct" while I am checking a camera. You can tell a lot about the seller if you ask the right questions.
