Hi!

Tonight I just turned on my Nikon D300S and discovered a stuck pixel on the LCD. I know it is on the LCD due to it always remaining in the same place when I zoom in on a image... and when the LCD screen comes on and it's black for a milli-second, a bright little dot is visible.

It's very annoying as it is almost dead centre of the screen, but you can only see it when the there is black or a very dark tone showing.

My D300S is only 5-6 months old so I guess it is still under warranty, only question is, is the LCD screen covered by the warranty.

Is it worth taking it in for repair? Would I need to pay for the repair? I'm just sad that it has happened now. :(

they will not likely do anything for ONE pixel...especially 5-6 months after the date of sale.

Not what you want to hear, but if you make enough noise you might find a way around it.

Is it worth repairing on your own dime....no, cost of the LCD and then labor = not worth it. You will just have to "walk it off" and get use to it.

Stuck pixels on LCDs are pretty much a fact of life. Some laptop and LCD monitor manufacturers feel up to 9 dead or stuck pixels is within acceptable limits...they won't touch it otherwise.

As long as you're sure it's on the monitor...if it was on the sensor I'd suggest running pixel mapping, if your camera has it; but P.M. doesn't do a thing for LCD screens.
