No real surprises, as far as I'm concerned. Olympus had already stated that they were going to cap resolution at 12MPix, for now. HD video seems to be de rigueur though I have a camera that has it, and have never used it.

Sorry Oly folks. This is one that I won't have, to bring to a meet. Just not enough of a step up for me given that I already have a E-3, E-30, and E-P2.

This is what they should have come out with (minus the video and high-resolution screen) instead of the specs on the E-3. I can't believe they didn't try to increase the shutter speed.

From the sounds of it the high ISO image quality will be better, but then again there has been incremental improvement in that respect for every camera that they've released. If the sensor had gone up to perhaps 14 MPix I might consider it but I've essentially got everything that I might need from the E-5, in the E-30.

Then again I had a friend nosing around, last night, wondering if I might be buying the E-5 and looking to unload my E-30.

Haha. That's what I'm looking to get now, the E-30. I've been maxing out my E-510 capabilities for low-light concert/performance shots the last couple of years. I'd still keep my two E-510s though, as they're still great cameras for other uses.

I'm waiting for the E-30 prices to drop, and I'll get two of them -- the extra as a back-up, or shooting with both at events to avoid changing lenses. :)

I'm curious to see just how much better the E-5 IQ is over the E-3. When I switched from the E-510 to the E-3, I was very happy with the decision. The E-3 sensor was miles ahead.

I like the E-3, a lot ... but I'm just not using it. It will be a tough thing to let go.

I still use my E-510 as a beater camera...but now the viewfinder seems extremely tiny compared to my workhorse 7D.....

Did they improve live view on E-5?

Why didn't they release an entire refresh of all DSLRs? New E-4XX, E-5XX, E-6XX?

They claim improved CDAF and a higher resolution screen, so Live View should be improved also.

It's beginning to sound like the E-xxx series cameras are going the way of the dodo, in favour of the u4/3 line.

Full-sized samples. Be patient; the sight is getting hammered.
