Ditto, 70-200mm f2.8L has always been a part of my travel kit.

Not to worry - they announced they will be showing "prototypes" of the 500 and 600 at photokina...and the two lenses are "under development"...so they haven't finalized these lenses yet...most likely be a year or more before they hit the shelves...

Must say I am underwhelmed. The 60D is a glorified rebel. 70-300L Do not get that lens.

Looks like the majority on Canonites will go 40D to 7D or 5D mkII.

Photographers will immediately notice that the latest Canon L-series telephoto lenses and extenders have a more neutral white tone compared to earlier models. This new shade of white will be used with all L-series telephoto lenses and extenders beginning in the second half of 2010.

Smoke stained white colour? I would never describe the colour as white or off-white or anything to do with white. I remember buying my first L lens, a 70-200mm f/2.8L and being disappointed that the colour didn't match the white that appeared on Canon's website or Henry's website.

I'm even more disappointed now that the new L lens are closer to white.

Canon knows how to work the up-sell don't they? Now old lenses look like they are old in comparisson.

Plus, is you owned a pro-sumer body you now have to upgrade to a semi-pro or you feel cheated. One day we will all be EOS-1 owners

20D when it first came out was $2000+ before taxes if I recall. A new 7D today costs $1700.

If anything, xxD is much more affordable, albeit Canon has adjusted the features/specs in their various cameras, the latest xxD series however is still and always has been a very capable camera.
