i'm not sure if i post this on the right section, pls. move it if it's wrong.

i'm in the market for a new camera gear (DSLR, lens, flash, bag, etc.) and been seeing the prices coming down on Aden, Downtown Camera, others. i'm afraid if i buy it now, i will see much lower prices during the Henry's Show. as it stands the camera i want is $200 more expensive with Henry's than Aden, do you think Henry's will be able to offer it much cheaper during the show? another thing i'm afraid of is that Aden and Downtown Camera will bump up their prices when the Show starts so i will be stuck with what price Henry's. i think i'm overthinking here but i just don't want to waste my money. i don't really have a lot and i want to spend it wisely. let me know what you guys think.

couple options you could buy where it's cheaper or you can ask henry's to price match the other stores...

I don't see too many discounts at the Henry's show, so I wouldn't count on that.

Aden's usually has the best prices, and I've never had trouble getting a price match from Henry's for them. The best deal would be to try to get a price match from Best Buy/Future Shop, because they do PM + 10% of the difference, whereas Henry's just does a straight price match.

Another option is to buy from thecamerastore from Calgary. Only GST and usually the price is 100-200 cheaper from Henrys and very fast shipment. II usually got it the next day.

usually you can apply their credit card @ the show to get the extra discount... I think it was 5% extra.... better than nothing

Simon.. i already have a Henry's card. if i do use it they'll prolly give me 6 months no interest, but that's it.

so i guess no one here really think i'll be getting a huge break then i might as well get my stuff now. thanks again!

AND you don't pay PST!

Anybody know what will happen with this option when the HST come to kick us in the groins? I'm guessing it'll still just be GST to pay only.

Alberta has no provincial sales tax to harmonize. The incoming HST is an Ontario-only thing. Some provinces already have it.

It would not matter PST / HST you do not pay taxes on out of province shipments. Which is exactly the reason I bought a laptop out of province.

Hmm, never thought about that around laptops. Good point.

Just to be clear you do not pay for PST from out of province. GST is still applicable however.
