I've been itching to buy a small form factor camera mainly for street shooting. The current LX3 is almost ideal - I like having a hot shoe (for strobist stuff), hd video (720p is fine for me) and a fast lens (f2.0 or faster). The only thing that would make the LX3 perfect would be better high ISO capability and a bigger zoom range - perhaps to 120mm.

I've put my finger on the "buy button" a few times but I keep hearing the LX4/5 will be coming out soon. Anyone else in the same predicament or am I alone in my frustration.

LX2 introduced July 2006.

LX3 introduced July 2008.

LX4? Sounds like July 2010, is a good possibility.

2.8 24-120 in a compact body? ha ha ha ha ha granted the way it works is different from actual slr lenses, i still find that a hard thing to come by.

I played with one in a store and wasn't all too satisfied with it. there's still shutter lag and the zoom function is all motorized. Play with one before you consider.
