Was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for a store in the GTA for Epson inkjet inks?

+1 for CCBC. Great store. I frequent the king and spadina location and Brad is a great help with anything you need. He is there most days but there is also an older gentleman that is more of a general knowledge person. Brad knows the bulk of the stuff.

hehe, continuous ink system i believe, something like these

http://cgi.ebay.ca/NON-OEM-CIS-Bulk-ink ... 5884738e3e

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Combo-CIS-Refill-For ... 4144f59722

i think their benefit over refilling cartridge is that you can clearly see when the ink is low rather than relying on the cartridge chip or something, and it is easy to fill. but you have to modify your printer a bit and it isn't really portable at all.

the few review that i read stated that the colours are different from epson original ink, but can be managed through colour profiles. i think i will try it once my ink runs out, seems like a fun project.

I've had very bad luck with third-party inks in the past. If I was printing documents, then I wouldn't really care. Pictures are a different story, entirely.

I agree on the level of caution towards economizing by using 3rd party inks in an inkjet used for photography.

If the 3rd party company is ISO registered or equivalent in quality control, then you can at least count on them for consistency and then develop a proper profile to work with. However, then you have to consider the risk of premature wear on the printheads due to pigment composition.
Also the rate at which the ink dries will affect how well the purge/clean pad(s) performs/lasts.

yeah, using third party is at a potential sacrifice of the printer. i'll probably not do it if i had a high end printer but am willing to try it out with my cheaper printer.

i personally worry more about the lasting effects of the ink. since it hasn't been too long since these systems came about i don't think there are too many reliable studies on how long the picture will last before fading. but having a cheap printing system where you don't have to worry about ink cost might be good for fun projects, printing out cards, labels, or what not.
