hi, guys.
i'm organizing a charity event for the sickkids foundation and i thought it would be cool to emulate those primary school picture days for the guests both young and old. i'm looking for that specific vintage bookshelf backdrop and was wondering if any of you actually have this or know of anybody or any company that would. i've phoned vistek, headshots, lifetouch, jostens...u name it..but no luck. they've all done away with this particular backdrop (i don't even know if that's the correct term for it) and moved on to more spongy looking ones. if anyone could help me out with any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't find the backdrop you need perhaps you could use the Sick Kid's library, or a bookstore like Nicholas Hoare (great wooden shelves). Someone I know got their wedding photos done there.

hey that's a neat idea. the thing is, the portraits will be taken at the actual event location.

This is obviously a lot more work, but if you have a van and are reeeeally determined you could go this route - bring in your own books and bookshelf. Or if you're one of those types who doesn't own books, borrow some from a friend or rent them from a used bookstore (seriously, some do this)

Or take multiple photographs of your own bookshelf and then tape together a whole bunch of prints. No one will notice!!!

hahaha my suggestions are kind of terrible, but it's after midnight and I have absolutely no idea where one would purchase one of those backdrops. Maybe talk to a company that does school portraits and ask them if they'd be willing to lend it to the charity event for the day/rent it to you. I'm sure at least one in the GTA has one still kicking around.

Oh, that idea isn't half bad. I recommend going that route first. Unless you have a thing for tape or heavy lifting.
