Hello Folks
I am thinking of buying some Lighting to setup my first home based studio in my living room, I dont have much money to spend so, Imagine this to be a student budget.

Would love to hear your input on these two options which am facing right now

1.Buying a low low student kit from
Strobist Starving Student SX4 Lighting Kit ( item priced USD wid shipping and Duty on top)

http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,12835.html
( the reason for this is ..I own Two flash units (SB 600 and Vivitar 2800) with 3 Cactus triggers)

2.Just go invest one some good 400 or 200 Watt flash setup from Vistek
which is 999$ and 799 $ respectively with stands and umbrella's .

And avoid some basic problems which i get with the other setup

3. Or look for used strobes in Craigslist

I am planning to take these outside and shoot with just my Flashes ( not sure how portable the second one is gonna be.

Thank you so much for checking

Cheers

CL is hit or miss for stuff and for strobist gear, it comes up once and awhile

I did see one recently that was like $600 for an entire setup.

Get what you can afford now, cause shooting is more important. You can always add more stuff later.

There is a bunch of DIY things you can do for lighting as well

For budget strobes with quality you can't beat Alienbees. Buy a stand, umbrella, umbrella holder and you're set. Then move forward from there. For small flashes you already have what you need minus the modifiers.
