So the manual for the camera was leaked last week. Not much to see, but I'll post a link on request.

What we know:

24MP FF Sensor
3 FPS
98% coverage viewfinder
Same body ergonomics as the a900.

By comparison the a900 is (probably) the same sensor, 5FPS, and 100% viewfinder.

The rumours have this camera body priced sub 2k.

Nice. Let the sub $2000 FF wars begin.

Right now I'm assuming everything is the same as the a900.

The general consensus is that the a900 at high ISO is similar to what the 5D mark 1 was. I don't shoot as high ISO much to start with, so I'm not a good person to speak on it.

Someone like Mawz can speak to the general online consensus of the Sony's at high ISO. Basically the choice of AA filter results in better colour at the price of some high iso performance, compared especially with Canon.

Hey Chris, so are you thinking of ditching one of the lower end bodies for an A850 backup?

Probably not. The a700 for the time being is perfectly fine for a backup body, that and I really don't have the 2k to theoretically spend on such a camera.

Interesting thought though.

It is an interesting idea - but I suppose its nice to have a crop backup body. I am thinking of making the upgrade from D90 to D300s once its available in the fall. We'll see on that one - money is obviously an issue too.

There's some imaging show in three weeks that is rumored but no one knows for sure.
