Since some of us are still learning (that's me included), I thought we could start a set-up thread.

Here are the two set-up photos combined in Photoshop to make the last photo.

Nice idea! I can put one of mine up temporarily (sensitivity about shooting inside the Courthouse).

It's a fun portrait I took a while ago of my friend, who is a law student/model.

It's called "Order in the Court"

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/45337223@N03/5384560184/" title="Order in the Court!! by Edhuang, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/5384560184_246f9ed6e9_z.jpg" width="429" height="640" alt="Order in the Court!!"></a>

Here's the set up -
One main light (only AB i owned at the time), plus one fill in flash for the background, and three people holding the pages i tore out of the Ontario Law Review (my own copies LOL). I gave them instructions to throw the pages in a specific manner, without hitting her in the face! ha ha

chopper that looks awesome. The lighting is simple but effective, great to see the set up shot. I know how people sometimes think that certain photo shoots require complex lighting set ups ... and you've shown that the right set up can be a simple one. This is great for those that are starting out and for those that are experimenting.

Setting up for some cheer leading photos, but thought I'd try converting some test shots to black and white. I like how the green background looks when converted.

2 x AB800 in softboxes to light the background, one 580EXII up high in small softbox as hairlight, and ABR800 in 56 moon reflector as key.

you're right. the green comes out a nice soft grey in the b&w. She has some shadowing on frame right so maybe your fill light to the right might be lowered a bit to lessen that?

Nice set up in your home!
