I've been flipping through the photography in general section and noticed how many photo sharing threads exist.
We've got macro, cityscape, sunrise and sunsets, flowers, candids, people, toronto urban fragments, dogs, bikes, cars, birdies, clouds, babies and children, sports photos...so, thought I'd try and start another thread.
I travel a bit for work and I find I'm getting more and more obsessed with UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
So, please, share with me any images that you have from a UNESCO site.

I'll get things started:

Nope, no camera, I started photography here in Canada a couple of years ago. Whatever I got to shoot there at that time was done on someone else's cameras and I can't get pictures, nor do I want to, they sucked

She seemed deep in thought. I wondered if I was photographing a pivotal moment in her life: was she thinking of quitting the Church? Then when I walked back I realised she was just being blinded by the sun.

Here are some UNESCO sites I've visited. Most were from my trip to China four years ago.

Image
The Jokhang Temple, Built in the seventh century, the Jokhang Temple remains the spiritual center of Tibet. Lhasa, Tibet, China. 2006.

Image
Potala Palace. Lhasa, Tibet, China. 2006.

Image
The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, Temple of Heaven. Originally constructed in 1420 during the Ming dynasty, the temple was used by the emperor to worship Heaven. Constructed entirely of wood without a single nail or fastener, the entire structure is held together by sophisticated interlocking joints. Beijing, China. 2006.

Image
Namdaemun Gate. Namdaemun, literally "the southern gate" because it was the southern gate of the original walls surrounding Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. Built in 1395, it is now today a historic reminder of Seoul's past. It unfortunately was burnt down in recent years. Seoul, South Korea. 2007.

Image
Huanglong valley. Situated in the north-west of Sichaun Province (at an altitude of over 3000 m above sea level), the Huanglong valley is made up of snow-capped peaks and the easternmost of all the Chinese glaciers. In addition to its mountain landscape, diverse forest ecosystems can be found, as well as spectacular limestone formations, waterfalls and hot springs. The area also has a population of endangered animals, including the giant panda and the Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkey. Huanglong, Sichuan province, China. 2006.

Image
Hwaseong Fortress. Suwon, South Korea. 2007.

Image
Mirror Lake, Jiuzhaigou Valley. Jiuzhaigou is a nature reserve in northern Sichuan province of China located 3000 m above sea level. It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan province, China. 2006.

Image
Nuorilang Fall, Jiuzhaigou Valley. This is the widest waterfall in China, spanning 320 m wide on a ridge that is 20 m high. The waterfall wraps around the edge of this cliff and is one of the spectacular waterfalls found in the Jiuzhaigou Valley. Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan province, China. 2006.

Image
Meridian Gate, Forbidden City. Beijing, China. 2006.

Image
The Great Wall at Juyongguan. Beijing, China. 2006.

Mont Saint-Michel

Mont-St-Michel (also written Mont Saint Michel) is a small rocky island about 1 km from the north coast of France at the mouth of the Couesnon River in Normandy.

The mount is best known for the medieval Benedictine Abbey and steepled church that occupies most of the 1km-diameter clump of rocks jutting out of the waters of the English Channel.

The Acropolis of Athens Greece

The Acropolis hill (acro - edge, polis - city), so called the "Sacred Rock" of Athens, is the most important site of the city and constitutes one of the most recognizable monuments of the world. It is the most significant reference point of ancient Greek culture, as well as the symbol of the city of Athens itself as it represent the apogee of artistic development in the 5th century BC. During Perikles' Golden Age, ancient Greek civilization was represented in an ideal way on the hill and some of the architectural masterpieces of the period were erected on its ground.

The Alhambra, Granada. Spain

The Alhambra (Arabic: الْحَمْرَاء‎, Al-Ħamrā, literally "the red one"), the complete form of which was Calat Alhambra (الْقَلْعَةُ ٱلْحَمْرَاءُ, Al-Qal'at al-Ħamrā, "the red fortress"), is a palace and fortress complex of the Moorish rulers of Granada in southern Spain (known as Al-Andalus when the fortress was constructed during the mid 14th century), occupying a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada.
