Here's a macro I took with my poor-man's macros lens, an dmy homemade blacklight ringlight.

taken with Canon 100mm macro + 1.4xTC and cropped.

Snowflakes were on the tinted window of my car which was a great spot. Natural lighting.

^^^nice^^^
I had some interesting frost patterns on a window at home but I was too busy to make time for the new Canon 100mm macro lens I bought last month  ....the pattern has since melted. I see you used yours with the 1.4 teleconveter. What effect does the teleconverter have? does it severely reduce the amount of light? I see you had to shoot at 1600 ISO to get a decent handheld shutterspeed.
Did you try the shot WITHOUT the teleconverter?

The TC lets you focus 1.4x's closer than without it. :-)
Nice thing about the 5Dmk2, is that i can shoot at iso1600 without really any noise!

I would love to have a macro! I just rented a nikon 105mm before and ugh it is awesome! f56! never got into that smallest aperture before...

Image

I wonder if you guys have the Canon MP E 65mm? Like to see it in action.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_MP-E ... Macro_lens

If there is a reason that I would go to canon it is this lens and the 85 1.2.

The red-eyed tree frog is the unofficial symbol of Costa Rica
