What: Impromptu Country Drive
Where: Somewhere in the west end - TBA
When: Sunday March 24th at 9:00am
Bring: Camera
Cost: Gas
Additional Info:

I feel like going for a drive on Sunday.... and want to especially check out Hornings Mills, and then maybe take a drive down through the Dundas Valley, maybe hit some waterfalls, shoot some rural stuff until the light fades, maybe hit somewhere for lunch and dinner... then head home.

Thinking of meetup at a carpool lot off of the 401 in the west end -- and go from there... don't have concrete plans, but that is what I am thinking for the moment.

I can try, i'm in a overnight transit deadzone. I tthink i can get to the bottom of Parkside, but I have to check some maps. Last time I had to walk to Bloor and it was creepy.

The farthest south I can get on a Sunday is Roncesvalles & Queen. But there's a giant sketchy hotel on the corner, so I don't want to be there that long.

If I am the only one coming from west of Toronto, can I suggest that you pick me up at the carpool lot at 401/Hwy 10 (Hurontario)?

ok Pam... that sounds good. If you hang out by the McDonalds -- thats not so sketchy. Believe it or not, the Roncesvalles neighborhood is not as bad as it used to be 15 years ago.

Paul, we went to the town of Hornings Mills ... that is where the Huxtable Power Mill was.. and further down the river was the Huxtable Powerhouse.

My next piece of gear is a GPS unit to mark my pics so I know where they were taken. While every river scene might look a little different, a river is a river. Also knowing where the place is helps tag the files for later retrieval if ever needed. Here are a couple shots from yesterday.

While HDR is not my thing, and won't ever be, you do a good job with it Paul. Very nice.

Thanks Chris. I wouldnt be doing photography at all if there wasnt HDR. Here is a nite scene from the Limestone Kiln. A sort of what it might look like if it was really nite and there was really a fire there.

The spots David chose were really good. It would have been pretty tough to have taken a bad pic. Still lots of pics I havent finalized processing with.
Here is Janet in a tight spot to get the shot.

Ya, it was just an idea. Im a fan of Stephen Lyman and his campfire paintings at night. I might expand this when I have time.
