Spring is coming fast upon us, although it definitely doesn't feel that way!

What: Spring Thaw Road Trip
Where: East of the city - I'm talking Uxbridge and even Kawathra Lakes territory!! We will meet up at the Ajax Go Station Parking Lot
When: Saturday March 16, 2013 - at 10am
Bring: camera, lenses, tripod, filters, etc. plus appropriate clothing for the weather
Cost: just the cost of gas (I suggest car pooling arrangements be made) and $ for food
Additional Info: None yet

I don't think we've had a good old road trip event in a while. The kind where you use "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" to decide which way to go next!

I am capping this at 12 people - maximum of three cars assuming 4 people per car (to be comfy for the long ride) - to keep things manageable.

I've added a waiting list if we get more than 12 people - willing to increase the number of slots if the rides can take more than 4 people (my max is 4).

I will have further details the closer we get to the date.

P.s - for those of you worried about conflicting with St. Patricks Day - it's on a Sunday this year - and the parade is on the same day. So no conflict - you can do both (somebody usually organizes a St. Paddys event - so watch out for it)

Just an FYI I have a friend joining me and so one spot in my car has already been taken. I will leave the number at 12 for the registration for now incase someone who is driving can take 5 people.

Not sure - it's going to be all random - no set direction or place - just up in and around those areas.

Hi Bynx,

Course you can have a ride. Not sure yet where to meet - I'll let you know closer to the event - but given where you live I should be able to get you from anywhere.

Well glad you can be encouraging there PotatoEYE ;)

Qq101, Yes mainly landscapes and nature. It may be harder to find things to shoot, but it's nice to be challenged.

Hello all. This event is approaching fast. Well it seems that way. I've decided our meet point will be the Ajax go station. That way people without cars can get there and those with cars can park them and we can pool up.

Those with cars who can offer rides please do so In this thread. We need to make sure we have enough cars and spaces.

As for the meet up time, I am not overly familiar with go train schedules for those that need it. How is a 10am meet time?

Cheers

Geez... I don't even remember seeing this -- I was thinking of the exact same kind of road trip.... but you beat me to it. Unfortunately I am going down Niagara way this weekend, so I can't join you guys.

oh. and by the way - you'll probably still have quite a bit of snow cover up towards the Kawartha's.... although it was melting this past weekend.

Got space for you, you will need to be at my area for 8:30 so we can pick up John at Main Stn for 9am. Queen St E and Leslie. Take the Neville Park 501 streetcar, get off at Leslie. Let me know if you are coming, will check before I head out in the morning.

Thanks for everyone who came out for the event. It was a fun time and even some decent locations for photos. Leg is dry, and hip-waders or very high boots are now on my shopping list. Including keeping a set of spare clothes in the car ;)

Great shots Dimitri and Paul.
Good trip, it was great seeing old and new enthusiast.
Just need to remember: sports suspension + rural roads = very rough ride.
