https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=tim+horto ... 02411&z=19
When: 10 Am on 2nd Feb

Additional Info:

The Toronto Necropolis was established in 1850, and is one of Toronto’s oldest and most historic cemeteries. Its picturesque location, collection of sculpture and Victorian buildings also make it one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the city. Some of Toronto’s finest examples of High Victorian Gothic architecture can be found in the fully restored cemetery entrance, chapel and office. Beautiful stained-glass windows grace the interior of the chapel, which is a popular choice for services.

The Necropolis is the final resting place of such prominent individuals as Toronto’s first mayor, William Lyon Mackenzie, journalist George Brown, founder of what is now The Globe and Mail, John Ross Robertson, founder of the Toronto Telegram, and, more recently, Federal NDP Leader, Jack Layton. Also buried here are Anderson Ruffin Abbot, the first Canadian-born black surgeon, and world-champion oarsman Ned Hanlan. In addition, the Necropolis contains a monument honoring Samuel Lount and Peter Matthews, hanged in 1838 for their roles in the Mackenzie Rebellion.

The Toronto Necropolis continues to offer a range of interment choices, including ground burial and cremation.

Riverdale Farm is a Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation facility located in Cabbagetown. It is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is free of charge.
History: Between 1888 and 1974, the Riverdale Zoo was located on the west bank of the Don River adjacent to Riverdale Park. In 1974, the zoo relocated to a much larger facility in Scarborough and was renamed the Toronto Zoo. In 1978, Riverdale Farm opened on the old zoo site.
Riverdale Farm is an example of an Ontario farm between 1880 and 1920.
The Farm is enjoyed by thousands of people from the local community and across the City of Toronto to tourists from afar. The Farm is a vital part of the social and economic fabric of our city.

I have never had any issues so far ..as long as we spread in small groups and shoot and not disrespect the place.

There's always St. James up the street.

At that hour, there should be plenty of street parking.

I had proposed the time to coincide with what the Marmora event would have been. Also hoping that the lower sun would be more interesting condo seeing where we're going.

According to this, there is free parking on surrounding streets.

http://www.riverdalefarm.ca/contacts/fa ... irections/

I am undecided between this and the Prince Edward County event, so I am currently a maybe for this.

It wasn't short notice, people were planning to go anyway. Just now there were no dogs to look at. I tried to save it but there wasn't enough there to make it worthwhile. From dog sledding to decrepit barns is too much of a slide. Perhaps PE County another time though, I have cancelled the contingency. Enjoy Riverdale, it's a neat spot.

I've been meaning to try St. James, but I think Yesh has not done the necropolis.
I'm also finding that the Bronica doesn't fit so well in my usual bag :(

That would be news to me if the farm is closed, as far as I knew the farm is OPEN year round from 9am - 5pm. according to the info below it also states that.

Really not sure that it means the farm has locked the gates.

CITIZEN ADVISORY GROUP SHUT DOWN BY CITY
Toronto – November 22, 2012 - On November 22, 2012, the Riverdale Farm Advisory Council (RFAC) was dissolved by City Parks and Recreation in preparation for the establishment of a new stewardship group.

RFAC has been operating for over 25 years as a liaison on behalf of the community with the City of Toronto’s Parks and Recreation department. Its primary role has been to support the Farm and keep it true to its mission, which is to represent an Ontario heritage farm at the turn of the last century.
