I wish I could control the weather.

Does anyone have any ideas for a backup plan if we need it?

Yes, Janet - you'd think that going that far at the end of January would be a safe bet.
Alas, I will not be able to make it tomorrow. A kitchen reno needs my attention. Apparently, the wife doesn't like to cook in all that plaster dust - go figure.

Oops - I had penciled in tomorrow for the races. Good thing. I hope to make it next week.
Marmora is supposed to get 5-10 cm Monday and a few more cm the end of the week. Let's hope that's enough.

Tomorrow was the races in Cannington. The racing part is cancelled, but they have reduced the price for the entry and the rest of the events are taking place.

This is not looking promising at the moment. Every time I look at the forecast, it seems to get warmer during the week. My weather app is currently showing +10C on Wednesday in Marmora, and not much snow after that (flurries on Thursday). I will keep hoping, but there isn't much else I can do about the weather.

Ashley has reported to me that Belleville got some snow today and the rain did not arrive there at all. -5C this evening. We'll have to see how much snow is lost to the temps over the next couple of days.

Every time I check the forecast, it gets warmer - I want it to go the other way. Now they are showing +11 for Wednesday. Thanks for the update though.

I guess we will have to wait and see what Wednesday's weather will do to the snow in that area --- I see the Weather network calling for +11 degree's and rain in Marmora -- this could kill a lot of the snow base. It goes right down to minus temperatures as of Thursday/Friday.

My weather girl in Belleville has just informed me it's currently 0°C and overcast there. Still no rain.

Do they have much snow now, before the melting and rain starts?

According to their Facebook page, they should know within about 30 hours - so Thursday morning. Apparent, as of right now, everything is moving ahead as planned.

All the snow that was here in Burlington is pretty much gone. I have not had a chance to discuss weather with my weather girl this evening. I will relay her forecast as soon as I get it.

There are other events that will still go ahead as part of the Snofest. To my mind, it wouldn't be worth the drive without the dog sled races. Do others agree with that?

Cannington had their 'dogsled' weekend this last weekend. They dropped the entrance price from $10 to $7 and didnt say anything about having no races. I was told it was ok for kids, but not much else.

I went to Cannington once when they had the Winter Festival without the races. It was fun, but not worth the drive there.

Looks like another dog sled race wash-out - rats. Whatever happened to winters west of Ottawa?
Darn global warming. Now could everyone please stop emitting CO2? Shallow breathing is still OK :-)

Weather girl reports "all the snow is gone" from Belleville. :( So, assuming it gets cancelled utsc2006 and I will still be in the area if someone creates and interesting contingency plan. I might drive around PE County looking for pastoral and bucolic under fresh snow.

Are we coming up with a contingency plan???? If so, I would suggest posting it as a separate event when/if the races are officiallt casncelled.

The dog sled races have been "postponed". Therefore, I am cancelling this event. Sorry, but the weather did not cooperate.

I am hoping that the PE County idea gets set up as an event to replace this one. However, I can't set it up as I don't know the area very well.

Ok... So its currently raining and looks like a mucky April outside. It's supposed to be cold today with little snow coverage.

Sad this event fell through. Thanks Janet for trying!!

Would there be interest in trying for the ones in Haliburton - the weekend after the Family Day weekend? I would again post for the Saturday, to make it easier for those using transit to meet drivers. I would be looking for a ride myself, since I don‘t want to commit to winter driving up north.

Weather forecast for Bancroft predicts snow flurries for Saturday & Sunday. There is still snow on the ground & could be a good day to photograph the Elk if anyone is interested in coming here. I have 2 queen size extra beds and 1 single extra bed, plus room for your own BYO bed or air mattress.
A local man feeds the wild Elk at 9am.

ok... looks like this one is dead now ..... I am officially going to bow out then. Because my wife would like to book me for the weekend. I told her there was a possibility that this event was going to be cancelled.
